Beaches
Enjoy local and far reaching beaches north and south of Cornwall, all accessible from the A30 (10 minutes from the cottage).
Fistral beach, Lusty Glaze and Crantock in North Cornwall approximately 30 minutes away.
Close by approximately 10 mins in a car you have Polkerris Beach, Carlyon Bay and Par Beach.
Not all of our beaches are dog friendly in the summer, however out of season they are.
Places of Interest
The Eden project and Lanhydrock National Trust house just minutes from the cottage.
We are close to the exclusive Fowey and Mevagissey harbours and for Poldark fans the shipping village of Charlestown where you can enjoy museums and restaurants in abundance.
Bodmin jail is 5 minutes away and has tours daily.
Great Walks
Helmon Tor Heritage Site, Breney Common Nature Reserve, along with Luxulyan Valley, Respryn woods and many others.
Great walks for our energetic dog walkers just 5 minutes from Windmill Cottage, fabulous views from the Tor with nature reserves in abundance on route you will see great wildlife, deers and birds of prey.
Breney Common a site for scientific interest on the edge of the all saints way footpath, and many more on our doorstep.
Cycling
Lanhydrock National Trust house has new and exciting off road cycle trails, bikes available to hire, all abilities welcomed. With cafe and shop for the less adventurous.
Hire your bikes from Camel cycle hire in Wadebridge and have fun cycling 11 miles along the beautiful estuary path to Padstow for a light lunch or fish and chips at Rick Steins.
Pubs & Restaurants
Enjoy the huge array of great places to eat both coastal and rural, the local Crown Pub in Lanlivery approximately 1 mile walking distance from the cottage, or the historic town of Lostwithiel (10 minutes drive) has an abundance of 5* restaurants and an excellent Fish & Chip shop.
Fowey has the famous SAMS for seafood and steaks, there are plenty of great pasty shops and places to drink. Charlestown has a great selection of breakfast and lunch eateries.
Cinema & Bowling
St Austell and Bodmin both large towns are 10 minutes from the cottage with cinemas, cafes and shops for the days that are not so sunny.
